Axis of Energy is a monumental gateway that marks the transition into Dammam along the Riyadh-Dammam highway. The design draws on the region’s heritage and ambition, with a central vertical tower representing the historical oil derrick — a symbol of Dammam’s role in global energy discovery. Flowing from this core, a secondary sculptural system spans both sides of the highway, evoking the dynamic movement of oil and energy. This secondary structure forms an “X” in plan, acting as both a spatial landmark and signage welcoming visitors to Dammam and bidding peace on departure. Embedded LED lighting enhances its form at night, powered in part by a wind turbine system housed within the tower. The turbine harnesses wind generated by passing vehicles, merging symbolic energy of the past with sustainable innovation for the future. The structure stands as a bold expression of cultural identity, motion, and environmental awareness.
